AWSRG Campout, Gibraltar Range, September 2026

Between the 11th and 18th September 2026, we will be holding our biennial AWSRG campout at the Gibraltar Range in northeastern NSW.

Adjacent to the subtropical rainforests of Washpool, Gibraltar Range offers extensive eucalypt woodlands, rocky outcrops and upland heath habitats with a number of rarely encountered species.

This will be a rare opportunity to get away from it all for a week and explore a diverse wild location, while meeting, reconnecting and learning from experienced field sound recordists. Those who’ve attended previous campouts will know how memorable they are, but if you’re new to our group, you can be confident of a friendly welcome and a rich experience.

We will be based at Mulligans Hut campsite, but have also secured accommodation at the nearby Gibraltar Cottage (although this is now nearly all accounted for). The campout – as its name implies – will be self-catered so you’ll need to be self-sufficient as it’s a fair drive to either Glen Innes or Grafton, the nearest towns.
